Equality PAC, a leading advocate for advancing full legal and civil equality for LGBT people, has announced its endorsement of Tom Malinowski for Congress.
“Tom Malinowski has proven throughout his career as a human rights activist that he’s an advocate, ally, and friend to the LGBT community, both in this country and abroad,” said Equality PAC Co-Chair Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI). “We know that electing Tom will mean having a stalwart and constant defender of LGBT rights, and that he won’t passively accept this administration’s transgressions.”
“I am honored to receive the support of Equality PAC, and look forward to working with them to champion the dignity of all Americans,” Malinowski said. “From refusing to even recognize pride month to siding against the human rights of LGBT Americans in the courts, the Trump administration has proven itself no friend to the LGBT community. It falls to Congress to work to protect the progress we’ve made, and to push us forward, until there is true equality for all Americans.”
Tom has been an advocate for and ally to the LGBTQ community throughout his long career in public service. During his tenure as Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, Tom led America’s efforts to promote the human rights of LGBTQ people around the world, establishing the Global Equality Fund to support LGBTQ rights activists and advocacy and overseeing the position of Special Envoy for the Human Rights of LGBTQ Persons.
