BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — At last night’s presidential debate, President Donald Trump refused to condemn white supremacy, instead ordering the Proud Boys, a racist, anti-Semitic and violent white supremacist group, to “stand by.” His response has emboldened white supremacists across the country. He also made clear that he will refuse to accept the results of a free and fair election if he loses.
Tom Kean Jr. has insisted he opposes racism in all forms. He has also stated he plans to vote for President Trump — doubling down on his belief that the president’s divisiveness and dishonesty is what our country needs for another four years. The question for Tom Kean Jr. is: Now that the president of the United States has explicitly refused to condemn white supremacy, while calling on a white supremacist gang to ready itself for action as we approach a tense election, will he back off of voting for Trump, or will he back off of opposing racism?
